New Republic has employees with diverse backgrounds based in different parts of the country.


Oscar Almqvist

Intern. Oscar studies political science at Uppsala University, with a special interest in international affairs and civil society issues.

    Intern. Oscar studies political science at Uppsala University, with a special interest in international affairs and civil society issues. His focus has been on organizational identity and political advocacy. He has international experience from studies in Tokyo and Bangkok. Oscar will be doing his internship at the Stockholm office until January 2020. He will be assisting other coworkers with media monitoring, research and support during his time at New Republic.



Johann Arnljots

Researcher. Johann holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from Lund University and specialises, among other things, in public administration and social policy, with a particular focus on integration policy.

Love Edander Arvefjord

Researcher. Love holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stockholm University with Politics as his major and Economics as an associated module.

In parallel with this work at New Republic, Love is studying for a master's degree in political science at Stockholm University. He has previously also studied international relations and history. Love works at the New Republic office in Stockholm.



Sara Bargi

Senior Consultant & Associate Partner. Sara was head of a unit at the Swedish Energy Agency. She holds a PhD in quantum physics and a master of science degree in engineering physics.

    Sara joins us from the Swedish Energy Agency, where she headed the Sustainable Electricity Unit. She was primarily responsible, among other things, for implementing government subsidies and solar energy subsidies and financing research projects on topics such as solar cells, smart electricity networks and wind power.

    Sara Bargi holds a PhD in quantum physics from Lund University and a master of science degree in engineering physics.



Ingrid Bojner

Chair. Ingrid works primarily with broad strategic issues and has many years of experience from other professional services companies, including as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

    Chair. Ingrid has many years of experience from other professional services companies, including as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. She joins us from the Stockholm School of Economics, where she was deputy CEO and head of marketing at IFL Executive Education.

    Ingrid has broad experience of a number of industries and business functions, from both operational and consultative positions. She has expertise in strategy, organisations, business development, brands, sales, marketing, innovation processes and digitisation. Her industry experience includes banking and insurance, media, telecommunications, retail and education.

    Ingrid holds a master’s in management and financial accounting from the Stockholm School of Economics, with additional studies in the United States at Georgia State University and the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Ingrid also has further qualifications from IFL Executive Education and the Swedish Academy of Board Directors.



Benny Damsgaard

Associate Senior Advisor . Benny is New Republic’s partner in Denmark, where he has long experience of national politics.

    Associate Senior Advisor. Benny is New Republic's partner in Denmark, where he has long experience of national politics. Benny has, among other things, been director of public affairs at Geelmuyden Kiese and senior advisor to the director general of the Confederation of Danish Industry. He was former head of communications and policy at the Conservative People's Party, where he was also head of press at the party's head office at Christiansborg. Benny regularly appears in the Danish media as a political analyst and is a columnist for the online newspaper Altinget.



Maria Eklöf

Senior Consultant & Associate Partner. Maria is an expert in labour-market policy, business conditions, and welfare and freedom-of-choice issues.

She has many years of traditional media and social media experience in opinion shaping and has previously worked as a project manager and communicator at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s Mediaservice and as a political secretary for the Parliamentary Moderate Party.

    Since 2013, Maria has been providing her private- and public-sector clients with strategic communication advice. She works with several employers' and trade associations on local and national projects. With her experience from both business and politics, she has an excellent understanding of how various societal actors work together and how messages should be formulated and win support so that they have an impact.

    Maria holds a master’s degree in economics from Uppsala University and also studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science.



Magnus Johansson Hessling

Senior Consultant. Magnus has long experience of municipal, regional and national politics.

He was, among other things, a member of the Green Party's executive (2003-2011), a municipal commissioner in Eskilstuna and a political advisor at the Government Offices, where he worked at the Ministry of Education and Research, the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation (2015-2019).



Johannes Hylander

Senior Consultant & Partner. Johannes has extensive experience in managing corporate communication, opinion-shaping and operations management assignments.

    Senior Consultant & Partner. Johannes is one of the consultancy’s founders and principal owners. He is senior public affairs adviser with extensive experience in managing corporate communication, opinion-shaping and operations management assignments. He specialises in strategic and analytical assignments at the intersection of economy, society and politics.

    Johannes works primarily in the fields of the Swedish labour market, education, research, innovation, culture and infrastructure. He has experience from having worked, for example, with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Akademiska Hus, Örebro University, Region Skåne, the Swedish Artists’ and Musicians’ Interest Organisation and the Swedish Performing Arts Association. He is often hired as a moderator.

    Johannes has previously held leading higher education and union positions and has served on the board of several government agencies. He has practical experience in local politics and holds a degree in political science from Uppsala University.



Pernilla Johansson

Executive Secretary & Assistant. Pernilla assists all New Republic consultants with the coordination, planning and execution of their work.

    With many years of service experience, both nationally and internationally, Pernilla is extremely client focused and very committed to making sure that clients and employees at New Republic enjoy the best possible prerequisites for fruitful meetings and long-term relationships. 



Sofia Johansson

Intern. Sofia is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication at Lund University. In addition, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Lund University.

    Intern. During the Master's programme, Sofia has been especially interested in questions regarding crisis communication, disinformation and branding. At New Republic, she will assist other coworkers with research and media monitoring. Sofia will be doing her internship at the Malmö office until January 2020.



Mattias Keresztesi

Senior Consultant. Mattias has broad experience in opinion shaping and political decision-making processes at various levels, including the Swedish and European parliaments as well as regional and municipal politics.

    Senior Consultant. Mattias has broad experience in opinion forming and political decision-making processes at various levels, including the Swedish and European parliaments as well as regional and municipal politics.

    For six years, Mattias was the Moderate Party's head of policy and led a team of policy advisers and experts at the party's Parliamentary Office. During the Alliance government, he worked closely with the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance and other parts of the Government Offices. He has previously served as a political adviser at the European Parliament in Brussels. He has also been a member of the Stockholm County Council Assembly and has held a number of municipal positions.

    In addition to a master's studies in political science, Mattias has studied psychology and international relations at Stockholm University. He has studied Spanish at Galileo Galilei Escuela de Español, EU Law at the University of London and Upgrading NGO Lobbying Practices at the European Training Institute in Brussels.

     



Ingrid Leek

Consultant. Ingrid has previously worked as Centre Women’s communications officer and as the Centre Party’s digital communications officer.

Ingrid holds a higher vocational education diploma in international sales and marketing management. Alongside her position at New Republic, she is studying political science at Stockholm University.



Gabriella Linderoth

Intern. Gabriella studies at Uppsala University and will graduate with dual bachelor’s in Political Science and Economy with economics as her major.

    Intern. During her studies Gabriella has been oriented towards environmental economics and public finance. At New Republic she will support other coworkers with research and media monitoring. Gabriella will be doing her internship at the Stockholm office until January 2020.



Jean-Daniel Maurin

Senior Consultant & Partner. Jean-Daniel has extensive experience of complex developmental and sustainability assignments.

    Senior Consultant & Partner. Jean-Daniel is one of the consultancy’s founders and principal owners, with extensive experience of complex developmental and sustainability assignments.

    Jean-Daniel manages public affairs, opinion-shaping, corporate communication and crisis management assignments. His areas of focus include developmental and sustainability issues related to national, regional and municipal policy as well as the surrounding society and industry and commerce.

    Currently, Jean-Daniel mainly works on infrastructure, housing, public procurement and regional development assignments. He has broad experience from having worked with a large number of companies and branches of industry, with such companies and organisations as Akademiska Hus, Region Skåne, the Swedish Artists’ and Musicians’ Interest Organisation, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Disability Rights Federation, SCA Personal Care, Michelin Nordic and TCO Development.

    He also has practical experience in municipal politics as an elected representative and received his academic education at Lund University, Stockholm University, Berghs School of Communication and Quadriga University.



Jon Millarp

Senior Consultant. Jon is an experienced consultant with in-depth knowledge of political decision-making processes and opinion shaping, including in the Swedish parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA).

    Senior Consultant. Jon is an experienced consultant with in-depth knowledge of political decision-making processes and opinion shaping. His various positions have involved advising ministers, members of parliament and political leaderships.

    Jon has served both in the office of the Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and the policy coordination secretariat, where he was involved in negotiating the Alliance Government’s healthcare policy, foreign and trade policy as well as EU policy, among other things.

    As part of the MFA leadership, Jon served as a policy adviser. He worked on such matters as multilateral aid, the UN’s organisations as well as its sustainability goals. He has also served as a policy expert, with particular responsibility for building and housing policy, at the Moderate Party’s Parliamentary Secretariat.
    Jon studied political science at Uppsala University and history at Stockholm University.



Daniel Nordlund

Senior Consultant. Daniel has over fifteen years of experience as a communication consultant, both in Sweden and Scandinavia.

    Senior Consultant. Daniel has fifteen years of experience as a communication consultant, both in Sweden and Scandinavia. He has previously worked for the JKL Group.

    Daniel has been working for New Republic since 2013. His specialisations include crisis management, branding, media relations and survey-based publicity/opinion shaping. Among his clients are the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Stone Industries Federation and Hypergene. Daniel is also one of the founders of the non-profit organisation Katarina Sociala Företagande and serves on its board.

    Daniel holds a master of science degree in business and economics from the University of Gothenburg as well as a master’s in strategic leadership towards sustainability from Blekinge Institute of Technology.



Louise Pons

Senior Consultant & Associate Partner. Louise has served as a policy adviser on infrastructure and rural matters for the Parliamentary Moderate Party. (Parental leave.)

    Louise has worked as an analyst at the National Board of Trade’s Department for the Internal Market. She has been the programme manager at Folk och Försvar (Society and Defence), a forum for the exchange of information and experience in societal security, security policy and defence policy. She has a broad, strong network of contacts from politics, business and interest organisations.

    Louise has been a consultant with us since 2015. Her areas of focus are public affairs and media advice for both private- and public-sector clients. She holds a master’s degree from Lund University and studied at Berghs School of Communication, Poppius Journalism School and the think tank Timbro. (Parental leave.)



Malin Sahlén

Senior Associate Partner & Head of Office. She is an expert in labour-market functionality, business conditions and integration. She has long experience in shaping opinion.

    Previously, Malin worked on social economic issues at the think tank Timbro, where she frequently participated in debates on the Swedish labour market and equality. Before that, Malin worked at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s Economics and Policy Section, where she conducted labour-market analysis and economic forecasting. She focused primarily on youth unemployment and has authored a book on the subject. 

    Malin holds a master’s degree in economics from Linköping University and attended Stureakademin (the Sture Academy) at Timbro. 



Olle Schubert

CEO & Partner. Olle is senior adviser with comprehensive experience in project and process management within the fields of opinion shaping and public affairs, often at the top management level.

    CEO & Partner. Olle is one of the consultancy’s founders and principal owners. He has comprehensive experience in project and process management within the fields of opinion shaping and public affairs, often at the top management level, for government agencies, companies and organisations.

    Olle has been providing strategic communication advice for seventeen years, with particular focus on energy, climate and environmental matters but also on infrastructure and rural development. Olle also holds media training courses and runs crisis simulations.

    Olle has worked as a reporter and editor at the information provider Montel Powernews, which focuses on the international energy markets. The rule of law is a special interest of his. He founded the non-profit network Rinkebymordskommittén (the Rinkeby Murder Committee). Olle holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stockholm University.



Paulo Silva

Senior Consultant & Partner. Paulo is senior public affairs adviser, often to CEOs or management teams, and has extensive experience in strategic communication.

Paulo is senior public affairs adviser, often to CEOs or management teams, and has extensive experience in strategic communication. His area of focus is challenging assignments in markets heavily dependent on local, regional and national political decisions and political processes.

    Paulo currently works primarily on labour-market-policy and economic-policy assignments, including, for example, labour law, public regulation, procurement, migration, integration, and economic policy. He has extensive experience in working together with organisations, such as the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the Employers’ Organisation for the Swedish Service Sector, and the Association of Private Care Providers, as well as large companies.

    He has previously worked at the Ministry of Finance and as chief of staff for the Green Party’s spokespersons in the Swedish and European parliaments. He has served on the boards of several government commissions and municipal companies. Paulo holds a degree in political science from Stockholm University.



Klara Spangenberg

Consultant. Klara’s areas of expertise include analysis, follow-up and evaluation for government agencies and organisations at local, regional and national levels.

    Klara comes to New Republic from Region Skåne, where she was an operations strategist. Prior to that, she was a management consultant at Ramböll Management Consulting and before that business area manager at Kontigo. 

    Klara has extensive experience of working with health and medical care and sustainability issues within the administration Skåne University Healthcare (Skåne universitetssjukvård) and of regional development, business development and innovation. 

    Klara holds a master’s degree in political science from Uppsala University.



Erik Torstensson

Consultant. Erik has broad national and international experience in opinion shaping, political processes and strategic communication.

    Consultant. Erik has broad national and international experience in opinion shaping, political processes and strategic communication.

    Erik most recently served as a political secretary for the Swedish Liberal Party, providing, among other things, support and advice to elected representatives. He was involved in developing the four-party Alliance’s policies. Prior to that, Erik worked for the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise in Malmö and at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Boston, USA.

    Erik has also worked as a research assistant in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh, where he collected data for Harvard University’s research programme Evidence for Policy Design, the aim of which was to improve women’s employment opportunities. 

    Erik holds a master in public policy from Harvard University, where he studied, among other things, economics, statistics, management and leadership, and politics. He also studied at the University of Florida, the American University in Cairo and Uppsala University.
